FFF: Friday Fave Five

{This post contains affiliate links.}

This the first time in a lonnnnnng time I've done a link up! It sounded fun to bring back the FFF, so here are my Friday Fave Fives for this week.

::ONE:: Braids by drybar

drybar opened in Fort Worth a few weeks ago. It's super close to TCU, and right across the street from University Park Village, the best shopping center in town. (Think Kendra Scott, Anthropologie, Apple Store. You know--THAT kind of shopping.) Last week, they stopped by Pure Barre to do braids to help celebrate PB's 3rd birthday in Cowtown. (More of my PB obsession here, here, and here.) I found out that you can stop in for a braid at drybar for only $10, or add one to your blowout service. They do little girls' braids for even cheaper, I think. Since I cannot braid little girl hair for the life of me, this is an excellent development.

My drybar braid. I loved it and wore it for 2 days.
I was not driving when I snapped this pic, Mom.

::TWO:: drybar Detox Dry Shampoo

I should be embarrassed by how many days this has allowed me to go without washing my hair. Spreading the drybar love during the braid bar, they left a sample at Pure Barre for post-workout hair. This might be the best dry shampoo I've tried. Found here.

::THREE:: Old Navy Swing Dresses

If you see me this summer, I'll probably be wearing this dress somewhere. In multiple colors, but in particular navy and white is on sale now. Inexpensive and breezy. Found here.

::FOUR:: MPix economy photo books

Back in the dinosaur ages, we would print out a whole roll of film and have all those pictures to flip through. After our trip to Disney, I wanted easy access to all our pictures, but obviously I'm not going to frame all of them. I looked through multiple photo book vendors and thought MPix software was the easiest to work with and least system intensive (think amount of time it takes your webpages to load). I also wanted plain pages with no clipart or journaling, so this fit the bill. Our Disney book turned out great, and now I'm trying to decide if I want to make books of our last several years of pics.

I chose the charcoal art cloth cover--a nice darker gray that won't show dirt from the little hands that love reliving our trip. I sprung for the gold imprint on the front bottom corner. Found here.

::FIVE:: Fightin' Texas Aggie Baseball

If you need me, I'll be watching the NCAA baseball tournament this weekend.

Inexpensive Quality Disney Princess Costumes

Back last February/March, my little lady had some birthday money to spend, and I thought she would have fun traipsing around the house with a Disney princess dress. As I started searching (Disney Store first because that seemed like the spot), I couldn't believe the price tag of something made of such seemingly cheap and scratchy materials.

As I kept googling my way into different corners of the internet, I came across the Disney Collection for JCPenney concept. It's basically a pop-up Disney Store, with merchandise designed by the same group that designs for Disney theme parks and stores. And we have one in our local JCPenney! I grabbed the kids after naps one afternoon, and we headed for over for the ladybug to try on a few. After donning the entire Disney princess wardrobe, we both agreed on Cinderella. Most of them are regularly priced $38, but usually they're on sale for around $25. The quality is better than the big box stores, but about $35 less than THE Disney Store.

Disney Collection Princesses for JCPenney

Elsa | Anna | Snow White | Cinderella | Rapunzel

I was inspired to share this little find because I haven't heard anyone mention these. I popped in our newly reopened Disney Store this week, and another mom was looking through dresses for Halloween. I mentioned the JCPenney dresses. She had no idea! Currently, I think the Frozen costumes at JCP are the cutest outside of the actual Magic Kingdom.

As you're searching for Halloween costumes, or even starting your Christmas shopping, check Disney Collection for JCPenney out. I've washed and hung ours to dry a few times with success. It's even made it through a whole day at the Magic Kingdom and is still kicking. We found the dresses true to size.

This is not a paid ad, just a mom find I wanted to pass along. Happy shopping!

Kendra Scott Mystic Bazaar Collection

My KS Mystic Bazaar Faves

clockwise from top left:
Everly Iridescent Peach | Rory Bracelet in Gold, Gunmetal, and Rose Gold | Everly in Gunmetal Iridescent Opalite | Fran earrings in Iridescent Peach | Adair earrings in Rose Gold

Kendra Scott released the Mystic Bazaar collection last week, and I'm loving the rose gold look. It's perfect for now and perfect for Fall/Winter. Specifically, the Everly Iridescent Peach and the Adair earrings are going to need to make their home with me, along with one of those bangles down the middle to add to my stack. I love the gunmetal finish, but I'm not sure what I would pair it with.

My birthday falls in August, and I'm already deciding how I'll spend my birthday discount from KS. They give 50% off one item during your birthday month. Such a deal!

Christmas Prep: Matching Pajamas

For two years in a row now, I've been late purchasing my kids Christmas pajamas. This means that the cutesy two-piece button-down monogrammed sets requiring pre-order in September are long gone.

Luckily, last year as I was searching for kids' classic Christmas pajamas, I came across this great affordable option by Little Me. If you've been kicking yourself for not ordering earlier too, maybe this will help.

I can't believe how much they've grown in a year.

Girls Ruffle Two Piece | Boys Two Piece

As Macy's runs out of sizes, Belk also carries these as well as a super cute matching gown. I still worry about Annabelle getting cold at night, so I'm not quite ready for the adorable ruffled nightgown. While I love the idea and hope I can keep up the matching cozy pajamas for as long as they'll let me, matching pajamas don't hold a candle to the importance of the coming of the Savior. I'm excited to celebrate this season with my sweeties!

Shopping for Slip-On Sneakers

I briefly glossed over yesterday that we did a little shopping last weekend with the whole fam. I finally had a blow out in the toe of my favorite burlap "Thomases" (what my little guy calls Toms shoes). Besides that, I spend more time than I probably should in leggings since they are the most comfortable for playing with my kids. I keep dressing them down with tennis shoes, but it's easy to create a pulled together look too, with just the right shoe.

Lately there are slip-ons everywhere. From Target, to Gap, to high-end brands. For example, the image below of leggings with slip-ons. Oh that I had looked so effortless, whilst schlepping my toddler through the rain to vote yesterday.

Slip Ons for Moms

Clockwise from top:
Black Quilted || Grey Snake || Leopard || Maroon Sateen || Black Perforated

Vans Metallic Slip-Ons

I ended up with the metallic Vans above. Up until a month ago, if you had told me I would own a pair of Vans ever in my life, I probably would've laughed. Mr. G asked if he could call me Avril.

While I was trying on shoes, one of the kids tripped with a styrofoam cup which fell to the ground and sprung a leak. In a ridiculous turn of events, my first instinct was to kick off the shoes so as not to be confused with a shoplifter and sprint from the store with the leaking cup to the nearest trashcan, minimizing the mess.

Added to my list of humbling motherhood moments is running through the mall in my socks with a leaking Sprite while I blamed myself for being distracted by shiny things. I don't let them walk around with drinks. They have to be kept in the stroller. For this reason!

I apologized profusely and offered to mop the store floor. Then I bought the shoes and left in a hurry.

Shopping with preschoolers is never boring!

Friday Shopping: Lands' End Friends & Family 2014

I was thumbing through a stack of catalogs that hadn't made it into the recycle bin yet and came across Lands' End for fall. I mentioned it back during swim season, but I've been loving what Lands' End has produced over the past year. High quality and with the perfect amount of trend in classic silhouettes.

The Lands' End Friends and Family sale is under way right now with 25% off, so it's a perfect time to add some new fall pieces to the closet.

Lands' End Fall 2014

Clockwise from top left:
Textured Top | Print Sweater | Boiled Wool Jacket | Basketweave Wool Toggle Coat
Large Canvas Tote
| Harris Suede Booties | Fit 2 Midrise Jeans

Sweaters: I'm planning on swinging through my local Sears to see if the Lands' End store there has these. I think I would wear them a bunch but want to see them in person.

Coats: I love the boiled wool jacket. So many colors! It's lightweight, but probably good for the majority of the Texas winter. If you check reviews on the beautiful pink basketweave coat, sadly, you'll see that the button detail seems a little cheap, but doesn't it look pretty from here?

Booties: They have great reviews and look similar to other much more expensive brands for the fall.

Jeans: I actually tried these on about a month ago and loved them. I didn't love them enough to buy them when it was 102 degrees. However, now that it's getting cooler, they are a great weight with just enough stretch to help a sister out, but not enough that they will bag out on you, if you know what I mean. The whiskering is done well, and at 25% off, that is a great price for good denim.

Canvas tote: I'm already Christmas shopping, so catching this at 25% is fab! The large is the perfect size for travel. I've used one as my carry on for years. No matter what you shove in there, it doesn't tip over, and it has lots of pockets.

Kendra Scott Takes Cowtown

Moms all over Cowtown were clutching their pearls last year when we heard the best located Barnes and Noble for story time and a lunch date was closing. Then, to add insult to injury, they closed the yogurt place to move Starbucks. Can you even imagine the first world outrage?

Rumors began circulating about who the new tenant would be and finally it was made official when Kendra Scott announced on their social media channels they would be opening their newest store right smack-dab where B&N used to be. I quickly decided I could find another story time if it means shopping fellow Texan Kendra Scott's jewels right here in town.

So two weeks ago I had a blast popping by the Kendra Scott grand opening with my friend and PB instructor, Alexandra. We both agreed Kendra was so gorgeous and friendly as she graciously greeted each person who approached her (in the high, late summer heat). It was such a fun party! With the store decked out in KS signature yellow and the shop girls outfitted in yellow dresses with turquoise KS jewelry, it was probably the happiest store I've ever been in.

(That's saying a lot because I spend quite a bit of time in the Disney Store with these preschoolers of mine.)

While we were there, we also met Sam, of Style of Sam, a local fashion blogger who I had learned of when she was featured on Fort Worth Moms Blog. Such a great night of shopping and fun. I've been back a couple of times already, and Annabelle has already had her first Kendra Scott store experience.

She actually cried when we left. That's my girl.

I Do Not Need New Boots

Just like your spammed out inbox, mine's been receiving a ton of fall sales emails. Last night I accidentally looked at one from Gilt Groupe as I was deleting it regarding riding boots. The boots in the ad looked really sharp, and I could not avert my eyes. So I have boots on the brain now. And I do not need boots on the brain. I have boots. I do not need new boots.

But if I did, here are some of my favorites around the web right now, all real leather, and all for less than $200. I believe this is called window shopping.

Riding Boots

1 Sam Edelman Pembroke || 2 Sam Edelman Penny (comes in wide calf too) || 3 Ava & Aiden Rylan in Black/Cognac
4 Ava & Aiden Rylan in Dark Brown || 5 Corso Como Rena in Brandy || 6 Corso Como Rena in Grey

I couldn't find reviews of the Ava & Aiden boots, however that's a brand created especially for Gilt Groupe. The others had great reviews. For each of these, the online photos make the leather look gorgeous! I received a pair of grey boots for Christmas while I was pregnant with Annabelle that I had to defer wearing a year because of swelling in my legs. (Oh, the swelling...) So last year was my first year to wear them, and they went with everything, thus I had to include a pair of grey.

{I do not need new boots. I do not need new boots. I do not need new boots.}

But maybe you need new boots?!?

Splurge/Save: Tunics

I bought the tunic on the left for a great price during Nordstrom's Anniversary sale. It's perfect for throwing on with jeans, but it's long enough to cover my rear in yoga tights. I came across this great alternative at Wal-mart for, of course, a fraction of the price. There are great color options. The only one missing is Aggie maroon. So sad.

Toddler Girls on Trend for Fall

While we're on the subject of my 18-month-old little ladybug, I walked into Old Navy last week and got a little giddy over all the fall options I found for her. Boots, vests, jackets, dresses, jeggings, tunics, tops, and all of it so cute. We put together a few outfits. Me: happy hearted with the joy of retail therapy. Her: angry and vocal about it because I took her out of the stroller to try on the vest and then strapped her back in.

No amount of fruit snacks would fix that one, so we were in and out fast.

Sorry, ladybug. When you can walk around and not pull an entire display of shirts off the table, you can join the land of the stroller free.

Toddler Girls on Trend

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

I find myself wishing that fur vest came in my size, because the color is fabulous. (Spoiler alert: it has a very cheap button hole, but it's good enough for the price.) And those boots! Absolute perforated perfection.

The Running Skirt as Casual Wear

So I have all these thoughts running through my head during the day that prior to staying at home, I would throw out to my co-workers (the female ones). Now they are all bottled up seeing as my preschoolers could care less about them, so eventually some of them make their way to the blog. That's the case with today's randomness.

Today I'm thinking about the running skirt as casual wear. Every trip I make to the Zoo or the big park, I see more than one mom in the running skirt. I have tried on about 10 of them over time, have sent as many embarrassing dressing room selfies to several trusted individuals in this contraption, and finally pulled the plug on one last week. I mean, I don't run, so really do I need a running skirt?

The Athletic or Running Skirt

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

I decided that the answer is yes, I do. For a myriad of reasons. One, they're cute. Two, Target, which all ladies love, had a sign up in store last week calling it an athletic skirt which opens it up to quite a few other activities, thereby reducing my guilt for wearing and not running. And three, despite the fact that it is exactly like throwing on a pair of running shorts which I also do not run in, somehow it looks like you reached a little further/tried a little harder. Maybe not on that one?

The first 9 skirts I tried on I couldn't do it because they just seemed too short. My modesty was getting the better of me, although they all have shorts underneath and are probably the same length as running shorts. I finally tried on Lululemon's TALL length, despite the fact that I'm every inch of 5'2" and decided that's what would work for me.

I don't think I've been this conflicted about a clothing item since the poncho craze of 2003.

So tell me, what are your feelings on the running skirt?

Weekend Shopping

Stopping in for a little weekend update to say that, after looking all summer, I finally found a pair of white jeans that I like. And they happen to be on sale for around $15 right now at Gap.

image via Gap

If you've been looking for a pair, the price might be just right for you like it was for me. In store, these were marked down to $29.99, then 50% off of that.

And being summer's end, these cute Lands' End UPF swim tops are on sale with around 3% cash back through Ebates. This was a size down item.

And of course, the Nordstrom sale is going on through tomorrow. Time to order those back to school necessities!

We ARE Playing Soccer!

So we are playing soccer. I'm hoping it'll be great fun for everyone, especially the three year old, and really my only expectation is that he will respect and obey the coach. If this happens, then that is a successful season to me. And, I should also say, I have no reason not to expect a successful season. Obviously as he gets older the expectations will grow. Thank you for your comments on the subject yesterday.

On the advice of a neighbor, we shopped for his gear last weekend. She mentioned that by the time she started searching for her son's shoes and shin guards last spring, everything was picked over. So off to Academy we went!

We found a great pair of inexpensive Adidas cleats in his size, and big enough to fit his soccer socks in with the shin guard stirrup or whatever that piece is called around the ankle. If necessary, we'll just swap out the laces, although I doubt the fact that they are blue will be that big of a deal.

I also ordered some great Under Armor shorts (found here) from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for practice since we mostly have khaki-type shorts. Time for the bigger kid stuff! Also, our favorite tennis shoes are only $29.90 right now during the sale. That's a bargain.

Time to get a jump on back to school shopping!

Cover Ups: A Reason to not Dread Swimsuits

Last week I talked about a little about my swimsuit search. But now onto the fun stuff. It's so much more fun to put on a swimsuit if you have a super cute cover up to...cover it up.

Swim Cover-ups

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

Numbers 1-4 are all from Forever 21, so you know they're priced well. One of my favorite cover-ups came from there are a few years ago. It was a great buy. Number 5 I have personally seen up close at Old Navy, and it's super cute. It's total resort wear! (There is a white version as well, but it is completely sheer. Boo.) Number 6 from Nordstrom is more of a splurge for a cover-up, but I loved it so much I had to include it. Since it's a dress, you can get more wear from it, thus lower cost per wear. So it's an economical purchase, right?

{Somewhere my husband is shaking his head.}

Summertime = Swim Time

For the past three summers, I've been shimmying into a black one piece swimsuit that could accommodate about a 30-40 lb weight difference. I am truly impressed with that incredibly boring swimsuit and how it worked to make my twice post-baby body look as okay as possible with what it had to work with. It was worth the investment.

But this summer of 2014 is a new summer, and I was ready to go swimsuit shopping. (Thank you, Pure Barre.) It's inevitable that I'll be chasing my kids around water features, so I might as well do it in something that I like rather than my dutiful plain old black shirred one that served me so well.

One day on a regular trip to the recycling bin to throw out the numerous catalogs I receive in the mail, I was struck by a swimsuit on the front of Lands' End. The stripes paired with polka dots was just my style and immediately I knew what I wanted for this summer. Our local Sears carries the Lands' End line, so I popped in to try on and was impressed with the tankini tops. They have underwire and are just really well made for holding it all in. This is so nice especially if you're running around with children.

Or likely holding them while they pull on your swim top. You feel me?

I purchased this top and these bottoms. In my lifetime, I will probably not strike any pose nearly as cute as this woman, and especially not in a swimsuit.

While I was in there I also tried on these rash guards which claim to provide UPF 50 sun protection. I'm ALL over covering up these days because I have a family history of melanoma. The sun shirts are so, so, SO cute on and made of swim material so they can get wet and will dry quickly. I sized down. I liked the pink stripes too, but the sleeves are two different pink stripes, and I like symmetry.

Multi-stripe Crew Neck Swim Tee
Tie-dye Crew Neck Swim Tee

At the risk of sounding like a grandmother, I think there are some really cute things in the Lands' End line for this summer for so many different ages and stages of life. Cute bikinis, much more modest options of swim dresses and higher waisted bottoms abound. Go check it out!

This was not sponsored by Lands' End--I just wanted to pass along the find. There are affiliate links in this post.

Smocked Auctions Spring Warehouse Sale

The week of my kids' birthdays, Smocked Auctions had a warehouse sale over in Dallas. If you're not familiar with Smocked Auctions, it started as a children's clothing company that primarily held an "auction" on Facebook each Thursday night starting at 8:30 PM. They expanded into Instagram selling, and during their warehouse sale, they announced the launch of their website, which now offers cute kids' clothes 24/7. So you can get your smocking fix anytime, of course.

Back to the warehouse sale. Smocking? On sale? Local?

What time should I be there?!?

My sweetie girl and I headed over to Big D on the second day of the sale because that's when we were free. They didn't allow strollers in so she sat on my hip in her sling, leaving me mostly hands-free to shop. There were quite a few kids running around, so kids were definitely not prohibited, just the strollers.

Even though it was the second day, I found plenty of cute things. Smocked items were $29.99 and non-smocked were $19.99. They also had a few fine children's brands such as Florence Eiseman and Feltman Brothers priced separately (i.e. more than $29.99). I didn't come across any of these in our size.

But we did manage to score some cute spring and summer dresses for my girl! I was actually looking at the Petit Ami sailor suit on another site, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it here for around twenty bucks. We grabbed a couple of bubbles, one of them for Easter (please warm up, Texas), and one other very sweet dress that she wore on her actual birthday. She felt very sassy and cute in it, and she showed it throughout the day (in a good way, I promise!)

The actual birthday day dress. Perfect for spring and summer.

I didn't shop far out of our current sizes (18 or 24 months, depending on the brand) since it was primarily spring and summer items, but I noticed they had quite a bit for older girls too (like through kinder-sized).

I think they have a fall sale as well. It was definitely worth the drive to find cute boutique outfits for a deal. I would go again.

A successful shopping mission for my girl and me!

Five on Friday: In Search of Mom Shorts

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I would use personally! Happy shopping!

I'm linking up with April, Christina, and Natasha, again today for another Five on Friday.

Somewhere around the time I turned 30 and had children, the shorts I wore in my 20s all of sudden became gauche for the stage of life I'm in. One day they were totally respectable and modest, and the next day they were too short. Somewhere in there, I had two kids and just bought some simple basics to get me through that time period. I was either working or a few months post-partum and didn't give it much thought.

Last summer's shorts don't fit, all for good reasons. Now here I am, figuring this out: in search of mom shorts.

And actually, all of these shorts I picked out today are just great modest length shorts. If you're not a mom, don't run away.

Lightweight Bermuda Short

These seem incredibly long on the model, however, I do have a pair of them from pre-children. They were perfect for work events where a casual dress was too dressy, capris too granny, and a shorter in-seam was out of the question. They are truly light weight, and that's a bonus for the Texas heat that I'm praying comes SOON. This is such a happy color.

Boyfriend Roll Up

I lived in these the last two summers, but my pairs are all too big. (Yay!) The nice thing about these is that they are loose to begin with, so you most likely can size down. Who doesn't love some good vanity sizing? They come in a bunch of colors, plus they go through the washer and dryer well.

Boyfriend Roll Up Stripe

This is the same short, with stripes drawn across it and $5 more. Definitely cute if I decide I can handle stripes across the backside. That's where I will have to consult my mom. She'll give it to me straight.

Floral Knit Shorts

These are a little shorter, but I thought they were so cute, and KNIT! They sound so comfy. Very lightweight. I can imagine these would be good on days where we play outside a lot.

5" Chino Short
(25% off with code: WARM)

I bought two pairs of these last summer before going to church camp with our students because I thought they were a good length. And they were, but they shrink a bit, so buyer beware. Lightweight, great price point, many color options.

Nike Tempo Track Short

A little bonus to my five, for my mommy friends who like to spend their summer days in these Nike Tempos. Who wouldn't? They dry quickly when someone spills bubbles all over you (again). This site has great prices on them!

Five on Friday: Keep on Keeping Those Resolutions

I'm linking up today with Darci and Company for another Five on Friday!

So it's the second month of the year, and you're beginning to wane on that resolution to get in shape, drop the weight, or otherwise just be healthier. What do you do to motivate yourself? You go shopping!

New workout clothes always spark new interest for me. What's the fun in buying them if you're not going to wear them out somewhere? Here's what I've had my eye on lately.

Jaya Tank 2

I got the Athleta catalog right after the holidays, and I continue to go back to this tank. It's so flattering!

Wunder Under Hi-Lo in Baroque Blue

These Hi-Lo Wunder Unders are awesome. You roll the waistband up when you want a little extra holding in, and roll them down on a skinny day. I wish I'd had these postpartum!

Zella Live in Leggings in Blue Eclipse Space Dye

I think I'm in a blue phase right now. I had a pair of Live in leggings on my Christmas list, and I have truly been living in them. They're a great alternative to Wunder Unders if you don't want to spend quite as much but want a higher quality legging.

Zella Perfect Run Tights

I have several friends training for the Cowtown, and I had them in mind when I came across these. I'm not a runner, but they might still work for Pure Barre. The zipper on the back might rub during mat work. They're so much cuter than plain old black run tights that I had to include them!

Scoop Neck Tank in Fresh Teal
I have a couple of these Scoop Neck Tanks and love this color. A perfect addition for the spring that surely is going to come again. Another very flattering tank.

And here's a bonus since I had a hard time keeping it to five. This jacket would be perfect for to and from wherever you're going. It's gorgeous.

Pure + Good Lined Lace Jacket

Five on Friday: Valentine's Date Night

I'm linking up again today with more about Valentine's Day for a Five on Friday with The Good Life blog!

For the past several years, our Valentine dates have consisted of dinner at our favorite local Mexican restaurant, Joe T. Garcia's. It works out fairly nice now that we have children since it's casual, and they can join right along in our tradition. (We are Aggies, and Aggies love tradition.) My parents never celebrated a holiday like that without us (now, their anniversary? yes, we stayed home!), so it seems right that we would include our kids.

But if I were going out on a fancy date night for Valentine's Day, here's what I'd be deciding on:

C. Luce Poppy fit and flare dress.

This style is flattering on so many body types. Reviews say it runs small. Bonus, it's machine washable!

Geojacquard Dress

The two reviewers of this dress give it 5 stars. I keep thinking I'm totally over the high-low look, but this one is done really well. I like that it either looks lined, or the back of the fabric is black so you can't see a weird back fabric print in the "low" part of the high-low cut.

Am I making any sense? It's one of my pet peeves about high-low cut skirts.

Printed Fit and Flare dress

I noticed this one in store last week. A great heavy weight material that will be perfect with boots for a while until the weather warms up. V-Day and everyday! It comes in just a skirt too.

Pleated swing dress

This would be a departure for me, but I think it would look so cute with patterned black tights and black heels.

River Island Sleeveless Ruffle Shift

This one is on super sale, and I feel like someone should snap it up. That is a gorgeous pink and apart from V-day, this one could get a lot of miles at weddings, special dress up nights for vacation, even Easter. Very cute!

So tell me, on a scale of jeans and a t-shirt to LBD, where do your Valentine plans fall?

Some of the links in the post above are “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I would use personally! Thanks for reading!

Five on Friday: Valentine's Day Prep

I'm linking up with The Good Life today for another installment of Five on Friday!

I love Valentine's Day so much! I feel like I need to move on to it pretty quickly because I have even more important things going on in February--namely, celebrating the birthdays of BOTH of my children.

I've already started doing a little decorating around the house and am thinking of arts and crafts for the kids (ok, Jack) to do. I'm searching Pinterest for fun (easy) valentines, and I'm excited just over the prospect of all the happy pink cookies I plan on eating making. Easy recipes here and here.

But today I've been doing a little shopping to outfit the fam in Valentine colors!

I got an e-mail from Old Navy earlier this week, and this scarf kept me from deleting it immediately. It would wear well into spring and summer, as well as February 14th.

Striped infinity jersey scarf

This would be perfect for my sweetie girl. To Valentine it up, I'd have it monogrammed in red, and I'd pair it with Valentine tights that I bought her while she was still in the womb last year. Tights are so easy (for me) for her since she can't pull them off. That girl takes her socks off faster than I put them on. A regular sock Houdini.

Mix striped dress from GAP
