Laziness in a Can

I've read about Batter Blaster for a while but just found it in the local Central Market. Just when you thought making pancakes couldn't get any easier, now you don't even have to add water.

This is pancake batter.

In a pressurized can.

Just shake and spray. Quite delicious and perfect for an ultra-lazy Saturday morning. Organic too.

You Are What You Love

Several times a year I turn my iPod over to Drew, who is an ardent follower of independent musicians. There is so much to be discovered, but I just plain don't have time to survey it all. I spend a lot of time in my car commuting, and I like to mix it up. He loads me up with stuff that he thinks I will like, and his filter is usually right on the money. Thanks, bro!

Right after Christmas he introduced me to Jenny Lewis. I love her music. She's got a great voice and is a wonderful storyteller. And you can sing along, which is what I am all about!

Last Tuesday night, we met up with Drew at the Granada for her show, and she did not disappoint. She was having such a good time that it would have been hard to be in the crowd and not have fun.

Here's one of my favorites...Sing a Song for Them.

As a side note, every time I looked at her album cover on my iPod, I couldn't figure out why she looked so familiar. So I looked her up on wikipedia and found out exactly why. SHE PLAYED HANNAH NEFFLER! That would be one of the main characters in one of my absolute favorites from childhood--Troop Beverly Hills.

If it is possible, that makes me ♥ her even more.

US Open Mania

Not only has my husband camped out to play the US Open course, today he's taking a half day off of work to watch the US Open on TV.

And, I am a guest blogger today on the Southwest blog talking about his golf habit.

Check it out here! (And when you are done, please feel free to book a trip on SWA. Thank you!)

Family Traditions

Last weekend was the annual cemetery association meeting
(that I detailed here last year.)
It was good to see the family. (Hi again, J!)
And the food was good.

ROAD TRIP Part II: The Sweet Stuff

After our long bike ride around Town Lake and along Barton Springs and back, we went to check out Hey Cupcake! which is a cute little cupcake shop located in an Airstream on South Congress. I think after the 15 mile ride, this was the most guiltless I've ever felt while indulging in a cupcake.

Brad's was chocolate with buttercream, and mine is vanilla cake with buttercream,
the way God intended cupcakes. They will make it a "whipper-snapper"
by injecting fresh whipped cream into the center.

Let's all say it together now--YUM!

We headed back to the Gaithers' beautiful home for a delicious
steak dinner and veggie prepared by our wonderful hosts,
and then, we had this.

Blue Bell Groom's Cake. Oh my word.

If you have not had it, you must go get some. This half gallon was purchased at the thing I would love the most about living in Austin (other than our gorgeous pink Capitol building)--HEB Plus. (HEB, if you are listening, please, please come to my town. I don't even need the Plus!)

But the sweetest part of the trip was spending time with our friends who we just do not see enough! We rounded out the weekend on Sunday by worshipping with the Gaither's Austin church family and then taking in the beautiful views at the Oasis for lunch.

Mikalah and Jarrod, thank you for having us and showing us such a great time!
