The Lululemon Experience Win

A few weeks ago, I saw where my local Lululemon posted on Facebook requesting people send in photos of how they sweat for a contest. Lululemon has a marketing campaign around the hashtag #thesweatlife, which is basically a reference for incorporating exercise (or sweat) for a healthy lifestyle. The winning photo submission would receive a Lululemon experience.

I thought about it for a split second and decided, "why not?" I figured they would just post the winning photo, and that would be that. I had no idea that they would post them on Facebook for voting. When it popped up in my feed, I weighed whether I should share it (posting anything personal on Facebook is a rarity for me) or just pretend it never happened. If my rear was going to be on the internet with giant stripes across them, I decided I might as well attempt to win. So in a cold sweat, I embarrassingly hit the share button.

I had no idea what a Lululemon experience was, but I was hoping it would include a least a free pair of pants. I practically live in wunder unders most of the week.

yikes! stripes!

The next Saturday morning, Lululemon FW posted that I did, indeed, win. I ran by Sunday afternoon to pick up my prize package which consisted of class passes to some local studios/gyms and a pick of something from the store. I ended up with a great pair of Aggie maroon crops I'd had my eye on. You can't see in the pic, but there are cute textured dots all over them to give 'em a little something extra and a really thick waistband to help a mama out.

Thank you again for voting for me. You're the best!

Getting Older

My birthday was August 23rd. I think we started celebrating on August 1st. I think everyone in the house gained weight, between the two birthday cakes and the in general attitude of "why not? it's my birthday month!"

{Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana}

There are quite a few things about getting older that I love: watching my kids grow, a deepened love for my husband that comes through many years of life together, a great appreciation for deep rooted friendships that comes from bearing one another's burdens and celebrating successes, and becoming more comfortable in my own skin.

And lest you think I'm about to get deep, I really appreciate the excuse to treat myself that comes with turning another year. And all the birthday discounts: West Elm, Kendra Scott, Vera Bradley, Anthropologie... Yeah, birthdays are awesome.

We had supper at Joe T. Garcia's with my parents and brother to celebrate one night, then on my actual birthday, I picked Cane Rosso because fancy pizza is at least somewhat kid-friendly. Birthday cake is one of my favorite desserts, so rest assured we took great care of those beauties at the top. If you need me, I'll be eating salad and hanging around Pure Barre until August 2015.

Pure Barre 250 Club

Last week I made the 250 Club at Pure Barre Fort Worth!

The 250 Club is when you've attended 250 classes. 13,750 minutes of Pure Barre. That's a lot of Pure Barre!

I'm often asked what it is I love about Pure Barre. Let me tell you that I'm not an athlete. I'm not flexible. I've never been able to do the splits in my life. I do good just to be somewhat coordinated.

I love Pure Barre because the community of girls/women there are encouraging and kind and hard-working! The workout never gets easier since there is always another way to challenge yourself in each position. My core post-childbearing is stronger than it's ever been in my life. The health benefits have been amazing, and that short 55 minutes a day caring for myself, I think, has helped make me a better wife and mother. It's worth it to me to get up before daylight to make it happen.

If you've been thinking about trying it, you should just do it. You'll be glad you did!
